Link Systems - Create Synergies!

Integration of HELiOS

Not all information contained in process life cycles is created in the PDM system, but is held in other IT systems.

HELiOS should not be regarded as a mere stand-alone product, but rather as an integral part of your overall software system. Interfaces to software components such as

  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning),
  • CRM (Customer Relationship Management),
  • SCM (Supply Chain Management)
  • archiving systems

are available, thus enabling data to be managed at its source. Redundant work is prevented and error sources caused by multiple entries are removed, while productivity and acceptance are improved.

When linked to a CAD system, PDM is of enormous value to manufacturing companies as it enables an across-the-board standardisation - a vital instrument for cutting of production costs - to be effectively carried out. In addition, proliferation can be considerably reduced by using the appropriate classification functions. This in turn reduces the time and effort required for administrative tasks and promotes the manufacturing of larger part series. At the same time the re-use of tried and tested parts improves product quality.

The open structure of HELiOS makes it an excellent choice for integration in PLM concepts. This is indicated by the growth in the number of ERP links. Today more than 30 different ERP systems are supported, with a rising trend to online links, allowing an extensive interaction between ERP and PDM. As all company sectors can access a uniform database the advantage is obvious.

The fact that HELiOS can be deeply integrated in a CAD system is one of its greatest advantages when compared to ERP Systems with PDM components. As a result all PDM/PLM capabilities are available right at the start of the process cycle, not with the first item search!
